The goal of this project was to create an app that would benefit a group of people struggling due to COVID-19. I chose to focus on ESL (English as a Second Language) kids and the resources they are missing out on due to virtual learning. I wanted to make an app that was usable by the students alone, but could also help parents help their students in the case that the parents also struggle speaking English.
Through the app, students have the ability to connect with their school to view current and past due assignments. They have the ability to message classmates and their teachers, and parents can set up virtual tutoring appointments and parent/teacher conferences. Students have the ability to scan homework given to them in English and it will come back as a version in their native language as well as choose to chat with a live translator.
